Why La Ligne Rouge?

La
Ligne Rouge is an online newspaper, a local opinion media outlet rooted
in the left. It was born from a simple conviction: too often, social,
feminist, and grassroots struggles are made invisible or pushed to the
margins by mainstream media. There was a need to create a space where
these voices could be seen, heard, and treated as political.

The idea for this newspaper emerged after a demonstration against violence against women, organized in Tarbes by Collectif Droits des Femmes 65
. This powerful and meaningful mobilization received no coverage from
local media. That silence raised a fundamental question: who tells the
story of struggles when the media remain silent?

A committed local media

In
Tarbes and its surrounding areas, political, social, and associative
life is rich. Yet it is too often ignored or treated without depth. La
Ligne Rouge aims to fill this gap by offering an independent, local, and
openly engaged media platform.

The
newspaper provides a space for expression for left-wing activist
organizations, collectives, trade unions, associations, and engaged
citizens.

Local, national, and international

Because
the local is political, La Ligne Rouge will primarily focus on local
issues: municipal decisions, social struggles, solidarity initiatives,
mobilizations, ecology, culture, and democratic life in Tarbes and the
wider area.

But these issues are part of a
broader context. The newspaper will also publish analyses and positions
on national news, always through a critical and engaged lens: public
policies, social movements, feminist, anti-racist, and ecological
struggles.

Finally, La Ligne Rouge will also
pay close attention to international news. Struggles fought elsewhere
resonate with those here: popular resistance movements, fights for human
rights, peace, and social justice. Understanding the global context
helps strengthen local struggles.

A starting line, not a finish line

La
Ligne Rouge is not an end in itself, but a starting point. A place to
inform differently, to debate, to confront ideas, and to build
collective resistance.

An independent media outlet that
openly embraces its position, convinced that neutrality does not exist
when it comes to social justice, equality, and dignity.

Here, militant voices are not marginal — they are central.
